Preteens & Teens
Teenage years mark the critical beginning of identity formation and movement away from parents and toward peers. This shift can lead to feelings of distance for both parent and teen, and it can be difficult to know how to connect, set healthy boundaries, and give appropriate space. Some common symptoms of a teen suffering are isolation, drop in grades, loss of interest in activities, self-harm, crying spells, and risky sexual behavior or substance use. Psychotherapy allows for a safe space for both parent and teen to move towards health.
